Luca Dotto

Luca Dotto is a former Italian swimmer specialising in the 50 and 100-metre freestyle events.

Throughout his career, he established himself as one of the leading figures in Italian swimming. In 2011, he became the first Italian swimmer to win a World Championship medal in the 50-metre freestyle, claiming silver in Shanghai, before becoming European champion in the 100-metre freestyle in 2016. He was also the first Italian swimmer to break the 48-second barrier in the 100-metre freestyle, setting a national record of 47.96. A two-time Olympian, he competed at London 2012 and Rio 2016, while also playing a key role in the Italian national relay teams. Known for his discipline, determination and constant pursuit of excellence, Dotto retired from competitive swimming in 2026, having already developed a professional path beyond the pool. Since 2022, he has been a swimming talent for Sky Sport Italia and, in 2024, served as a technical swimming commentator for Eurosport during the Paris Olympic Games.

He is also the host of the Italian Swimming Federation’s podcast Camera di Chiamata. Through the Luca Dotto Academy, he shares his experience and expertise with younger generations, with a particular focus on the mindset, discipline and values that underpin sporting excellence.
